What I owned

Authored the verbal identity, naming system, and shareable EPK structure
Advised the founder on UX flows that reinforced the new brand promise
The Business Challenge

Nightlife platforms feel cold, technical, and exclusive — deepening imposter syndrome instead of helping emerging DJs show up with confidence. The product had the features. Adoption was stuck on a feeling.

The Strategic Insight

The barrier wasn't features. It was confidence. DJs needed a tool that helped them represent themselves clearly — across IRL and digital spaces — without performing expertise they didn't yet feel.

The Solution

Pivoted the story from features to confidence. The primary barrier to adoption was Confidence, not Functionality — so the brand had to lead with emotional clarity, not technical depth.

Rebuilt First Spin around a confidence-led identity system. Friendly, plainspoken language; playful visuals; and a shareable digital EPK structure that made self-promotion feel natural. The 'after' state leads with emotional clarity — what the DJ feels — rather than technical complexity of what the platform does.

Before / After

Brand & product, side by side

First Spin brand identity before and after — old purple Firstspin wordmark and palette next to the new bold FIRST SPIN typographic system and pastel pink, lavender, lime, and blue palette
Identity system — from generic SaaS purple to a DJ-culture palette and confident wordmark.
First Spin product before and after — old dark DJ profile screens next to the new light onboarding flow, feature cards, and brand-customization panels
Product surfaces — onboarding, feature stories, and customization rebuilt around the new system.
